In recent years, the Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI) has played an important role in the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)'s promotion of commercializing research achievements. In addition to assisting NSTC in promoting the “From IP to IPO Program” (FITI) and the “Taiwan Germination Program”, STPI has also helped to boost the Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA) since 2022. In the process, STPI has gathered information on relevant practical issues and used it to build a database to assist operations of Taiwan's research and industrial innovation systems. Special focus is placed on enhancing industrialization efficiency, promoting research achievements, and advancing industrial innovation and social development.
At this year's CES, NSTC set up a Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) Pavilion at Eureka Park. Spanning ministries, local governments, and Taiwan's startup community, a total of 96 Taiwanese tech startup teams participated in the trade show, 10 of which received a CES 2023 Innovation Award, demonstrating the power of the nation's tech startups. From Jan. 3 to 12, STPI sent staff to the U.S. to participate in and assist NSTC in organizing the CES pavilion, matchmaking research activities, and Silicon Valley community exchanges to help Taiwan's research startups connect with international markets and buyers as well as network with the Silicon Valley tech community in hopes of building foundations for teams' future growth overseas.
