KISTI Researchers Visit STPI to Resume Staff Exchange Program 2023.04.28

Thanks to the ease of pandemic STPI resumes the staff exchange program based on the MOU with Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) in April 2023.  2 KISTI researchers join the 6th NARLabs-NST Joint Workshop followed by 2-day intensive working meetings in STPI.  After several rounds of heated discussions on the latest trend of science and technology information services, both parties agree to exchange more insights on knowledge infrastructure for R&D after the exchange program and hopefully to initiate separate cooperative project with regard to AI-based information services.

The exchanged KISTI staff are Dr. Suhyeon Yoo and Mr. Jayhoon Kim.  Dr. Yoo currently is the Director of Convergence Service Center in Division of National S&T Data.  She introduces KISTI’s ScienceON, a platform for S&T knowledge infrastructure service established in 2019, in both the 6th NARLabs-NST Joint Workshop and division meetings in STPI.  Mr. Kim is the manager in Digital Curation Center in Division of National S&T Data.  He shares his experiences in the process of KISTI’s digital transformation as well as brings in advanced ideas about developing a maturity model for digital curation.

Dr. Chin-Yuan Fan, the Director of STPI’s Policy Research Division, introduces the “Scientific Research Observation Platform” that is built by STPI in division meetings. He indicates this platform is quite similar to KISTI’s “ScienceON” and STPI should learn more from KISTI in building up a more researcher-friendly S&T knowledge infrastructure.  He further suggests STPI should send platform project staff to KISTI later this year to conclude the 2023 staff exchange program, with the aim of establishing a cooperative project for enhancing information service quality for both STPI and KISTI.
